What is known as a standard pool and spa size?

A standard pool dimension is 15’ x 30’, and a standard spa size is 7’ x 7’.

How many people fit in a standard 7’x7’ spa?

Comfortable spa seating is traditionally measured in the amount of people you can sit in the spa without touching. Using this metric, a standard 7’x7’ spa can fit between 4-6 people comfortably.

What is LRG Pools standard equipment set?

We work in partnership with Pentair to provide a Pentair system to our customers.

Our standard set-up includes (1) 3HP Intelliflo Pump and Motor, (1) 420 Clean and Clear Cartridge Filter, (1) 400K BTU Low-Nox Stackless Heater, (2) LED Globrite Pool Lights, (1) LED Globrite Spa Light, and (1) Pentair Color Dial for light control.

You have the option to add to this standard setup, with any additions being charged to the homeowner.

How many spa jets does LRG Pools install on their standard spa set-up?

At LRG POOLS we install 6-7 jets per pump. Therefore, on our standard one pump system, you will have a customers choice of 6-7 for placement.

You may add another group of 6-7 jets by adding an additional pump onto your pool equipment.

What is the standard number of lights in a pool or spa?

Our standard pool includes 2 LED color changing lights. One light for the shallow end and one light for the deep end. Our standard spa includes 1 LED color changing light.

Please note that we aim to place the LED lights shining in the opposite direction of the home and windows, to keep the light pollution from the pool at a minimum.

Will I need to update the gas meter at my home, and who is responsible for doing so?

In some cases a gas meter may not meet the size requirement necessary for the installation of the pool equipment or any extra gas features on the project.

In the event that this may be true, LRG POOLS will alert the homeowner per inspector discussion. If the gas meter is deemed to need an upgrade, your project manager will instruct the homeowner to contact SOCALGas for the needed upgrade.

The gas company will then come out and make the determination on the size of meter needed per gas pull of the property.

The gas company will then make the change and installation necessary for the project. This service is free of charge.

Must I meet any fencing requirements to complete my pool project in full?

Yes. In order to pass the “Fence,Gates, and Alarms” inspection with the city, your fence/wall and gate must meet certain city requirements.

Please note chain link fencing of any type does not meet city code requirements for a pool enclosure. Fences must be maintained as wood, vinyl, iron, or cmu block. Fences/walls must also maintain a good structural standing.

Fences may not have more than a 1x1 square inch gap opening, for climbing purposes. Your fence/wall must also maintain a minimum height of 5 feet, measured from the outside of the fence/wall, or your “neighbor’s side”.

Your gate opening to your pool space will also have requirements to meet. The gate must swing outward to the front yard, be hinged and self-closing, and have a latch at a height of 53 inches or higher from the ground.

Driveway fences larger than 4’ in width do not meet city code requirements for a pool enclosure.

Please note any fencing changes that need to be made on the property to pass the “Fence,Gates, and Alarms” inspection is the responsibility of the homeowner, if the specific fencing scope of work has not been initially signed into the contract.

How long will my pool project take to build?

The answer to this question is determined by the scope of work of the project.

LRG Pools will work with you to try and develop a timeline that coincides with the specific needs of your project.

Please note that those timelines provided are estimates and subject to change at any time.

Reasons for changes to a timeline may be: new city requirements imposed by an inspector, wait time extensions on products needed for project, additions or changes made by customers to a project, etc.

What is a baja shelf (baja reef/tanning shelf)?

A shallower part of the pool, traditionally near the entry steps, it is an oversized step made for sitting, or for inner pool umbrella and chair space. These features usually range from 12''-18'' deep.

This shelf is also popular among clients with younger children who would like to have a designated shallow-water play space.

Stonescapes’ Mini Pebble vs. Plaster?

Stonescapes’ Mini Pebble will give you a longer lifespan over plaster and allows for many different color options.

As a company we aim to only apply white plaster to avoid excessive "spotting, mottling, or discoloration". Stonescapes’ Mini Pebble is also LRG Pools’ Standard selection installed on a majority of our projects. This may be changed if a plaster finish is desired by the homeowner.

How will a salt system affect my pool?

Having a salt water chlorine generator will not make your pool extremely salty.

For example the ocean salinity is 35,000 PPM, while your pool will be roughly 3,000 PPM. Though salt systems are more aggressive over time on your materials, the build-up you may see should be easily remedied with a high quality pool servicing company.

Keep in mind every water environment is different and these cleaning schedules should be set between the homeowner and pool service company after the start-up process of the pool.

How do I add new features to my project after I have signed my contract?

If the homeowners would like to add any scope of work into a previously existing contract or build plan, they may do so at any time during the project.

There are 2 processes in which LRG Pools can charge an addendum, or change. The first is with no design work needed, and verbal communication to the Project Manager on-site.

If the change is deemed to be able to be made without changes to the plan then this addendum service will come at no extra designing fees and will be the charge of the addendum itself back to the customer to engage the change.

If the Project Manager deems the on-site plans will need updating with design work of ANY KIND, then the Project Manager will connect the homeowner and their contract salesman to engage the change.

Any changes made with a designer included will include an extra design fee to the homeowner of $300, on top of the cost of the addendum (or change) desired.

Each $300 design session comes with 1 hour of client and designer engagement.

If changes are made all at once, then one fee will be applied. If numerous design sessions are needed, then the $300 design fee will be applied for every additional 1 hour session.
